Background
HUDDIG AB develops, manufactures, and sells backhoe loaders primarily for construction, railway, and line construction. The company has a prominent environmental policy and is at the forefront of environmentally friendly technology. The demands for reduced environmental impact entail new requirements for, among other things, hydraulic oils, which in turn necessitates increased cleanliness in hydraulic systems, where water, heat, and external contaminants already in the hydraulic tank initiate a degradation process for many of these "modern" oils.
Previous Situation
Many of the environmentally friendly oils on the market are "synthetic esters" which are classified as "hygroscopic," meaning that a disadvantage is that they absorb and bind more water than mineral oils. Standard oil filters are unable to absorb water, oxides, and the smallest contaminants, which means that most environmentally friendly oils, which are significantly more expensive than mineral oils, also have a shorter lifespan.
Problem
Water, heat, and contaminants in hydraulic systems rapidly degrade the performance of hydraulic oils through oxidation and resin precipitation, increasing the risk of wear on pumps, valves, hoses, and seals.
Measures
By installing ROVAB's bypass filter system together with ROVAB's particle and water-absorbing breather, HUDDIG has minimized the risks of hydraulic oil oxidation and degradation. With consistently absolutely clean hydraulic oil resulting from the installation of these filters, the risk of unplanned downtime is minimized, while hydraulic oil change intervals are significantly extended. Additionally, hoses and seals in cylinders and valves retain their elasticity, reducing the risk of oil leakage and negative environmental impact.
Solution
By installing ROVAB's deep-filtering bypass filter system together with a particle and water-absorbing breather, hydraulic oil contamination is minimized.
Results
- Consistently absolutely clean and water-free hydraulic oil
- Longer oil change intervals
- Reduced wear on moving components, hoses, and sealing materials
- Reduced environmental impact
In brief
- Reduced risk of unplanned downtime
- Significantly longer oil change intervals
- Cost and environmental savings
